- Supporting Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS): Government Agencies and Foreign Funding Institutions
Water supply and sanitation (WSS) services are major concerns of the government. Population growth, urban development, economic crisis, poverty, lack of knowledge, global competition are some factors that contribute to problems in water supply and sanitation. Although the Philippines is an archipelago consisting of more than 7,000 islands and is densely populated, WSS is not a neglected area. Likewise, the country is abundant with natural resources, especially water resources.
The government finds support for WSS services from several government agencies and foreign funding institutions. These government agencies and funding institutions undertake projects for funding, management services and other types of assistance to meet the growing demand for water supply and sanitation.
